John Ammonds TributeWith the very sad passing of John Ammonds on 13th, as a tribute we are releasing our extensive and exclusive interview with him conducted in 2007. We had not previously released this material by request of John himself, as he used much of the content in his after-dinner speaking and events. He asked we use it only when he no longer did these functions. It was a wonderful and insightful interview with a warm and knowledgeable man. Eddie Braben DiesIt is with great sadness that we hear of Eddie's passing. Eddie was a wonderful, warm and immensely funny person, who learnt his trade while working on a market stall. From humble beginnings in Liverpool he spanned the heights of show business working for some of the greats. A lot of his writing career was with Ken Dodd, writing quick-fire one-liners that Ken was famous for.
Later he was partnered to Eric and Ernie by Bill Cotton after their previous writers Sid and Dick were tempted back to ATV.
We interviewed Eddie a few years back and he couldn’t have been more amenable, friendly and open. A little later than originally planned, the new plaque joins others that name the starts who have worked and filmed at the London studios.
Amongst the guests were Eric’s wife Joan, and daughter Gail, who were thrilled that the Heritage Foundation has chosen to honour the double act. Posted: 19/05/2013 New Photograph, Old StatueA very kind Morecambe and Wise fan has sent us a photograph of the fibre glass statue, in its original location, Battersea Park, on 4th September 1977. This image is the first one we’ve seen of the statue in it’s very short-lived appearance in the park. Shortly after it was moved due to complaints from residents. The image can be seen in our feature about the statue and our gallery page. Thanks to Stuart for sending us the picture. The bad news is that the new location is unknown (believed to be South Wales). The good news is that it has at last been renovated. It is good to know that it is being looked after.

John was a tremendous character and a very talented producer, having spent a lifetime in the entertainment industry. We will be releasing our full interview with him as a tribute very shortly.
This sad news comes after the passing of another person with Morecambe and Wise connections, Jean Bamforth. Our recent feature (Morecambe, Bamforth and Wise) tells the story of her life and her connection to Eric and Ern.
Our thoughts are with both families at this very sad time. Posted: 14/02/2013 Lost Tapes CancelledThe anticipated CD, due for release in January 2013, containing many unheard and previously lost audio material from Morecambe and Wise has been cancelled.
Fans with orders may have already been informed of delays with their order, but they are soon to be told that the product will not be released.
This is very sad news as some of the material planned for the CD had never been heard before and some had been thought lost until recently.
Whatever the reason for the decision, we hope fans will at some time get to hear these rare and important clips, rather than hording them away to be lost or deleted again.
