The much anticipated radio 4 show about the recently discovered rare tapes in the garage of Doreen Wise, has been rescheduled. With plans to improve/expand the show mean it will now been shown in spring.

| News: Eric's Car Found
The first Rolls Royce owned by Eric Morecambe has been saved from a scrapheap by a Canforth businessman. The 1971 Silver Shadow was just days away from being stripped in a scrapyard in Shewsbury when Peter Yates discovered it. He is now in the process of fully restoring it to be used for weddings and other functions. We hope to have more on this soon.

Welcome to our seasonal update. Apart from tidying up a few gremlins in the site, we have been busy gathering and creating new material. This update sees a new feature on Janet Webb, an update to the proposed Eric Morecambe Museum and updated images of the Ernie Wise statue. | News: Rare Tapes Found
A large collection of rare and never before heard tapes have been discovered by Doreen Wise during a recent garage clear out. The tapes, some dating back to the sixties, cover many aspects of Eric and Ern's career including five episodes of their first radio show YOYO (You're Only Young Once).
Other gems include recordings of their summer shows in Blackpool and Great Yarmouth. This material will be featured on an up-coming Radio 4 show on Boxing Day. For full details read the Press Release.

| News: CD Release
The BBC are set to release a 'facsimile' of the 1976 LP 'Its Morecambe & Wise' on CD as part of the Vintage Beeb collection. The release date is set for 4th Feb 2010. The CD contains various sketches including The Diamond Ring In The Window and Bob Hope's Chief Scriptwriter. Judging by the word 'facsimile', we presume there will be no additional content. You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone, the brand new book by Gary Morecambe will be released on Thursday 15th October. There are many new interviews and discoveries about the life of Eric, and well worth buying. The BBC have already picked up on a new revelation in the book with Ernie wanting to break the act up in the early 50's, and more details are due to be published in the Guardian and Sunday Express. We hope to get a full review out soon.

Because of the 10th aniversary of the Eric Morecambe statue, we have added two new features covering the events. One specially written for us by former editor of the Visitor newspaper, Mike Whalley, the other partly by oursleves using material from the 4 page special currently in the same newspaper. As part of the articles there are also audio interviews from BBC Radio Lancashire with updates about the proposed museum plus we get some air time too. See the Features section.

Following on from the much praised BBC drama series, the Curse of Comedy, it seems that Eric and Ern's young days may be next for the small screen. Peter Bowker, writer of such things as Occupation, Blackpool and Wuthering Heights, is penning the script that covers the boys early life as child entertainers. It will cover their first meeting and subsequent joining to form what was to be Britain's most successful and best loved double act. More details as and when we get them…

Wow, do we have a good update for you this month!
Topping the bill is the brand new feature following the progress of the Ernie Wise statue. We have images and words from the sculptor in our on-going reports. Check out the first pictures of the block of stone that will become Ernie Wise via the skilled hands of Melanie.

The official release date for the BBC Series 6 DVD has now been confirmed by 2 entertain. 3rd August 2009 is the date, and you will be able to buy the two disc set containing all 8 episodes, that’s 270 minutes of classic Morecambe and Wise.

| News: New Website
Welcome one and all to our brand new website. Not only has the whole site had a complete overhaul, but many articles and features have been tweaked, some with new additions to take into account time, and some with more images. We have spent a long time testing things, but no doubt there will be some teething trouble - please report anything unusual so we can get it fixed.
It's been a long process (almost 4 months work) but finally we can pause for breath - but not for too long. There are plenty of new things coming up and new additions planned. Keep reading, keep watching and keep smiling.

The Eric Morecambe statue on the sea front in his home town is one of 6 statues to get a make over for Red Nose day. It will be given a bright red nose and T Shirt along with the statues of Robin Hood in Nottingham, Les Dawson in St Annes, The Bull in Birmingham, Greyfriars Bobby in Edinburgh, Tommy Cooper in Caerphilly and John Lennon in Liverpool.

Welcome to this first update of 2009. Because we are currently working hard on a new site design, the update focuses on recent events only with details of the two television programmes shown over the festive season and news about the proposed Ernie Wise statue in Leeds.
