Britain's Most Loved and Best Comedy Double Act

Music Hall Selection - page 2

Feature from 2008

Morecambe and Wise
You didn't think we would do a series on music hall and not have our favourite duo here did you.

Eric and Ern's long road to success began in the music halls. It was the place they learned their trade, how to deliver a joke and how to play to the audience.

Their later television work usually had them on a stage infront of curtains, even in the studio.

At the time of this advert, they had not yet had their own television show, that was to be 5 years away yet.

Nat Jackley
We like this picture!

Nat was easy to track down, he even has an entry on Wiki, so from there we know he was; “an English comic actor starring in variety, film and pantomime from the late 1940s to the mid 1980s whose trademark rubber-neck dance, skeletal frame and peculiar speech impediment made him a formidable and funny pantomime dame.”

Born in Sunderland he appeared in three Royal Variety shows, topped the bill in Summer shows throughout the seaside resorts and topped the bill at the London Palladium.

Rayanne
Despite trying to find any information about this lovely lady, we always ended up with nothing!

We like this particular advert mainly because of the wording – a hark back to the early days of hype.

New Today – Famous Tomorrow!
Every show is original, different and pleasing.

Just what she did is anyone’s guess – if you know please let us know.
